How to Become Un-Stuck
Jan 13th, 2010 by David Svet
We all get stuck from time to time. The current economy isn’t helping matters. I think situational depression is a pretty big contributing factor that helps to make us stuck. Being stuck has a snowball effect — it starts down the hill and just builds. It can eventually be consuming. So, how do you stop the snowball? Change.
It’s as simple as that — change. Change anything. Change everything. Change something. Stuck is a state of inaction. The antidote is action.
You don’t have to start big or try to change the world with your first swing. It can be little. If you usually dress casually, try putting on something nicer. You’ll look different, feel different, and people will respond to you in a different manner. Do you make it a point to smile every time you see someone? Try it — every time for a day. You’ll be surprised to find that it gets easier and people like it. Do you eat at your desk? Ask a client or mentor out to lunch. Pick something and do it.
Being stuck is a result of inertia. To make it stop you need action in a different direction. What do you do when you’re stuck? There are a lot of people reading this who could use your help.
